Jennifer Sharpe is one sharp cookie - when it comes to selling Girl Scout Cookies. The 15-year old from Michigan sold more than 17,000 boxes of cookies. Jennifer was on a street corner everyday with her mom selling Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos and the rest of the cookie line. Pam Sharpe is Jennifer's mom and troop leader. She says the sales effort helped build her daughter's confidence. She says at first Jennifer was shy and quiet but came out of her shell selling cookies. National Girl Scout officials say there is no cookie sale record on the books, but Jennifer's effort is amazing. Now, her troop will use their portion of the cookie sale money for a trip to Europe. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-15)

There's no doubt about who Jim Beach is rooting for - the 12-foot gopher in his yard is a sure sign. Jim and Janice Beach are huge University of Minnesota fans. Now, they have a giant Goldy Gopher sitting in front of their home in Freeborn, Minnesota. The Beaches used to have a big oak tree. But when it died, Jim had it carved into the shape of Minnesota's mascot. At first, Janice wasn’t too keen on the idea. Bt the giant gopher is growing on her. It's a landmark in their small town, with people stopping by to take pictures of it. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-14)

78-year old Dale Davis may be legally blind, but he's still known as "The Hammer", and on Saturday night, he showed why. Davis bowled a perfect game - with 12 consecutive strikes. His final strikes brought a large crowd to cheer him on. The man from Iowa says for a few minutes he felt like a pro, even though he's not as young as he used to be. He says it was quite a thrill. David says his sister encouraged him to start bowling when his vision started going bad about 10 years ago. The only time he can see the ball now is when he picks it up. But the perfect bowler says he can tell how he's doing by the sound of the lane and the pins. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-13)

Like a lot of older folks, Jenny has some joint issues and her eyesight isn't what it used to be. But she still looks pretty good for an old gorilla. The ape celebrated her 55th birthday last week at the Dallas Zoo. The experts say Jenny is the world's oldest gorilla in captivity. Jenny had a four layer frozen fruit cake. Her human visitors got chocolate and vanilla birthday cake, as they watched Jenny through the glass at the zoo's Wilds of Africa exhibit. Gorillas in the wild usually don't live past 35. So, what accounts for Jenny's longevity? She's not saying, but her vegetarian diet couldn't hurt. Zoo keepers say Jenny loves her bananas, peels and all. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-12)

The 18 year old graduates from Iowa State University this weekend with two bachelor's degrees. Gassman has majors in biophysics, German and classical studies, plus a minor in history. And he's graduating at the top of his class. He earned a full scholarship to Iowa State at age 14. Now, he's thinking about a summer job before heading to the University of Minnesota for graduate studies in the classical languages. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-09)

Graduate student Ty Keltner is just a big kid when it comes to playing with Legos. The University of Alaska Fairbanks student spent more than a year and $1,100 on a massive Lego replica of a campus building. He says it would have gone much quicker, but he had to wait for new Legos to arrive in the mail. Keltner lost count of just how many of the little plastic blocks went into building his miniature version of the Gruening Building. The Lego model stands an impressive 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It's now on display at a campus gallery. Soon, Keltner could have some even bigger projects in mind. He graduates this weekend with a Master's degree in business. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-08)

The Packers aren't the only ones who are retiring Brett Favre’s jersey. A 12-year old Connecticut kid is also giving up his Number 4 Packer’s jersey. David Witthoft wore his Favre jersey for 1,581 straight days, since getting it as a gift in 2003. His dad, Chuck, says David last wore the shirt on April 23rd, which was his 12th birthday. His mom washed it every day and did her best to keep it mended. But David is a growing boy and his Favre jersey is getting a little too small. David plans to be in the stands for the Packer's September 8th game, when Green Bay will officially retire the Number 4. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-07)

George Hood is going nowhere, fast. The 50-year old man from Illinois is trying to reclaim his world's record for continuous exercise. He's riding a stationary bike in a YMCA and hopes to keep spinning until Sunday morning. That would be more than 132 hours straight. Until last summer, Hood held the record of 111 hours, 11 minutes, and 11 seconds on a stationary bike. That number was passed by a biker from Tasmania. Hood is also doing some good with his record attempt. He says his efforts should bring in $50,000 for the YMCA. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-06)

A soldier turned stuntman is trying to break three thrilling records at the same time. Steve Truglia hopes to skydive from more than 27 miles above the Earth later this year. It will take four hours to reach that height in a hot-air balloon, and about seven minutes for him to jump back down. If it works out, Steve will land himself in the record books with three new records for the highest, fastest, and longest freefall jump. Steve will have to wear a special suit for the task to help him cope with freezing temperatures of 148 degrees below zero. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-05-05)

A pear tree in southwestern Ohio is making a fashion statement. It is wearing a sweater. Tourists have been making their rounds, snapping pictures of the sweater-wearing tree. And area residents are adding more knitted panels to the tree's colorful outfit. Some people are even sticking family photos, poems, and even jokes in pockets of the sweater. The plan is to take the sweater off of the tree on Arbor Day in late April. But some people think the knitted piece of art should stay up a little longer. -- Courtesy HisKids.net (2008-04-25)
